Terry W. Carson, CA, CMA
Terry is a Partner in the Audit Services Practice and currently serves as the Lead Audit Partner of the Cayman Islands Office. Terry has over 30 years of experience in public accounting and has served numerous industries including those in the retail, automotive, manufacturing, hospitality, telecommunications, financial services, and professional service sectors in Canada, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. Terry gained his insurance expertise from auditing property and casualty companies in Canada and from auditing a variety of captive insurance companies covering health care, malpractice, workers compensation, professional liability, SPC's etc in Bermuda and in the Cayman Islands. Terry is a member of the Nova Scotia Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Society of Management Accountants of Nova Scotia. He is a member of Council for the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants and serves as the Chairman of the Training committee. Terry is also a professional member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers.

Ian R. Johnson, FCCA
Ian is a Partner in the Audit Services Practice of Grant Thornton. He also serves as the lead Partner for Caribbean Management Limited, a corporate services management company that shares space and common resources with Grant Thornton. Ian has over 25 years of experience in public accounting. He gained his initial audit experience in the UK before moving to the Cayman Islands in 1983. Ian also worked in Bermuda for a period of time. His experience includes handling accounting and auditing issues, resolution of complex topics, handling internal firm financial management and serving as the Firm's Money Laundering Reporting Officer Ian has served numerous industries including those in the retail, manufacturing, hospitality, telecommunications, financial services, and professional service sectors in the Cayman Islands. Ian has extensive experience in auditing captive insurance companies ranging in size from less than $ 1,000,000 in assets to those with assets in the hundreds of millions. Companies audited would include health care, malpractice, workers compensation, professional liability, SPC's etc domiciled in the Cayman Islands. Ian is a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants of England. He is a member of the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants.

Audit and Accounts Staff

Joanna Barnes
Jo trained as a Chartered Accountant with James Cowper Chartered Accountants in the UK and qualified as an ACA in November 2007. She has extensive experience in conducting and completing audits for a variety of ISA clients from large limited companies to smaller clients. Jo joined Grant Thornton originally as an Audit Senior and has since assumed the role of Audit Manager. She has managed several special audit assignments for local clients and provided audit services to clients in the captive insurance field.

Patricia Coleman
Patricia qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in the UK in 2005. She both audited and was responsible for internal and external audits in a variety of industries including pensions, retail, education, manufacturing and distribution, both privately owned companies and listed. She gained funds experience when she moved to Cayman working for a reputable fund administrator before joining Grant Thornton in November 2008. She specializes in captive insurance audits, but also has experience in auditing mutual funds, pension plans, management companies and local businesses. She was promoted to Manager in July 2009.

Stephanie Luxton
Stephanie trained with a small public practice in Oxfordshire in the UK where she had responsibility for accounts preparation, tax work and was involved in various audits covering a range of sectors. She qualified as an ACA in July 2007 and joined Grant Thornton in November of the same year as an Audit Senior. She has several years of experience in the captive insurance industry and now has responsibility for numerous financial services and local audits, as well as in fund reviews.

Victoria Harvey
Victoria qualified as a chartered accountant in December 2005. Having completed her training at Smith & Williamson in the UK, she spent some time working in Boston and arrived on island in March 2008 with her family. She is now responsible for audits of captive insurance companies, hedge funds and local companies.

Andrew Percy
Andrew trained with Thomas Coombs & Son in the UK and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2007. Andrew joined Grant Thornton in the Cayman Islands in November of 2007 and has gained experience in captive insurance and local clients since joining the firm.

Joni Steffen
Joni qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in May 2009. She spent several years in the audit practice of Grant Thornton LLP in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her responsibilities included the audits of companies in the manufacturing and distribution sectors, as well as employee retirement plans. Joni joined the Cayman Islands firm in September of 2010.

Brian Shenkosky
Brian is a CPA with a Masters degree in managerial accounting from Michigan State University. He spent three years working in public accounting in Michigan, where he performed audit and tax engagements primarily for the manufacturing industry. Brian moved on island and joined Grant Thornton in November of 2010.

Alison Strobridge
Alison trained with RSM Tenon in the UK and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2009. Alison joined Grant Thornton in December of 2010. In her spare time Alison enjoys playing squash and hockey.
